These are 100 questions to answer from mouseling. Answered on December 24, 2025.

1. Please introduce yourself.
Hi, I'm Iso and I like listening to music.
2. How long have you been making websites?
I'm going to count Carrd as making websites so since 2021 I think.
3. And what got you into the hobby?
Started Carrd when I saw the guy I really wanted to be friends with using it so I copied him. At some point I found Spacehey in 2022 which gave me more customization freedom and I learned CSS from it. In 2023, I found and made a Neocities account but didn't like how it took half an hour to update because I wasn't very good at it yet and wanted to see if I was doing things wrong immediately. In 2024 I decided to try it again and search for a video tutorial to start off. I found this one which gave me an app right at the start that I can use with live preview so now I'm alright.
4. What kind of website are you most interested in?
I like personal websites with cool styling.
5. What's your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?
I come up with it as I go. That's what works best for me.
6. Please link to your biggest inspirations.
My biggest inspirations are mainly Serial Experiments Lain, and also unicodeangel, rice.place, i026net and now I can't think of any more.
7. What's your favourite part about making websites?
I can make anything I want. I can write whatever I want, make it look however I want. I'm still learning to not make it for others, but for me.
8. And the thing you struggle with the most?
I used to get stuck on how the index page looks and couldn't really get myself to work on the actual content of my site. Other people write big texts on their site and I don't understand how. For a lot of things, I have to look at other people's stuff as examples or else my mind goes blank mostly.
9. Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?
I started wanting to a different layout for every single page but it ended up being too hard and more draining(?) rather than looking any good or being able to even do it, so now I samey layout elements for about all pages except for sometimes that I might want to style it different for fun. It's better this way.
10. How confident are you with CSS?
I'm not a complete professional but I don't need to look up how to do things so much anymore so, for whatever I want to do, I feel confident.
11. Do you know how to correctly use <dl>?
I never saw it until these questions so I looked it up. Yes, I know how now.
12. What is your favourite HTML element?
I can't think of any being my favorite.
13. If you're making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?
Copy and paste the <head>.
14. Do you know JavaScript?
Not really. I understand some minimally from using and editing premade JS code by others.
15. How about PHP?
Not at all.
16. Does your website have a theme that you stick to?
Yes.
17. Are you more focused on content or design?
I want to focus more on content. As I said before, I tried to make different themes for each page but it really butchered my ability to make the content so now I have a general theme for all except for certain pages when I feel like it.
18. Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?
I don't think having the free Neocities site is owning a domain name but I don't really care about having one. Maybe unless I need to for whatever reason.
19. What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites?
An inspiration.
20. Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?
It mostly is from what I know. I'm not a professional at this, like I said. There's probably a lot of things wrong. I don't know.
21. What are your opinion on buttons and banners?
They're cool. I'm still trying to make one for myself a button that I'd be satisfied with.
22. What do you think of button walls in particular?
I like looking through them.
23. If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different?
It would not be completely different if not the same. I have a set idea in mind.
24. Are you envious of other people's websites?
No, I feel more inspired when I see someone have a website with stuff I'd want to do too.
25. What text editor do you use?
Brackets.
26. Why do you use that one?
Because it was in the video I said about before. I went to it immediately because of the live preview feature.
27. Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host?
I host them in with the rest of my files.
28. This might not be relevant to you, but what's your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate?
I think both are good. I got on Neocities before I knew of Nekoweb so that's why I'm on Neocities. I have things I don't like about both and things I like about both.

What is server space? My site has 148MBs of files.
30. Do you keep local backups of your files?

I don't have online friends in general. I have a hard time talking to people.
35. Do people in your real life know about your website?
Only one has seen the website itself really. And I only barely showed it to a couple of other people because it came on topic and I wanted to show that I've been coding and making a personal website as a hobby now because I havent't seen the guy in a long while.
36. Do you update your website very often? How often is "very often"?
Yes, sometimes every day, sometimes every couple of days.
37. And the overall design, do you change that much? Why or why not?
I don't think it changes very much because it's been the same ideas from the start.
38. Is your website more you-focused, hobby-focused, or outside world-focused?
I'd say it's all three. There's me, my interests and creative stuff, and anything outside that piques my interests (there's not much at the moment but it's in my head.)
39. Do you do web design professionally?
No. That would be a job I'd like.

Lol I don't preread questions and answered this in the previous.

Yes, from what I understand.

51. What about under-utilised practices, or things you think people should do more?
I don't know.

I have three that are available to see right now. I have like 15 sitting in my computer because I used to start making a shrine after any new media I engaged in that made me think. Probably more on HTML because of the content inside, like I've spent a long time answering these in the HTML.

The content.
85. Are you interested in technology outside of websites? Do you collect?
Yeah, I have a bit of an interest in fixing machines. Like I once got dad's PS2 that couldn't scan the disk so I worked on it for 8 hours straight trying to fix it. I did manage to make it work for at most 10 seconds. I never fully fixed it because I manage to figure out that the motor is weak and needs to be replaced but I didn't have the money at the time. Then when I brought my laptop to get the charging port fixed, I was asking the guy questions because I was curious and wanted to understand how the DC jack being broken made my laptop not turn on at all despite being charged.

Not cool, but cute. That's the word always used.

96. Would you close down your website if you couldn't update it, or would you leave an archive?
I'd leave it up. I don't understand the point of getting rid of it from everyone because I might've lost interest.
